Check out flowers along the upper portion of the Sacramento River on the road to Gumboot Lake. Some species are the same as in the Rogue Valley, others are different.

Saturday, June 15: Spring on Mt Ashland CANCELLED We will check out what's in bloom along FS 20, Rabbit Ears, and the first half mile of the Pacific Crest Trail thru Grouse Meadow.
Thursday, July 4: NPSO Wildflower Show
Great opportunity to see and photograph a very large selection of the wildflowers that grow in our mountains. All identified and labeled for your convenience.
Location: Ashland Community Center, across from Lithia Park, a short distance beyond the Plaza.
Show hours: 10 – 4. I will be working there from 10 – noon, when the parade is in progress and there are very few visitors at the show. The show is very popular and large numbers of people visit it from noon till 3 pm. By 4 pm the staff and some of the flowers have wilted.
Saturday, August 3: Alpine flowers at Crater Lake National Park We will drive along the west rim of Crater Lake to the base of Llao Rock, stopping occasionally to check what's growing on the rocks next to the road. We will then climb to the top of Llao Rock to see if we can spot the Pumice Moonwort, Botrychium pumicola, and to enjoy lunch with a view over the lake. We should see a variety of alpine rock and alpine meadow flowers on the way up and down.
Meeting place: dirt parking lot behind Oil Stop next to Shop 'n Kart in Ashland Meeting time: leave at 8 am; expected return: between 5 and 6 pm--this is an all-day trip Difficulty level: moderate; round trip to the top of Llao Rock and back is between 1 and 1.5 miles, with a climb of no more than 500 ft; however, there are occasional steep stretches on this cross-country jaunt.
Saturday, August 17: Late summer on Mt Ashland We will check out what's in bloom along FS 20, Rabbit Ears, and the first half mile of the Pacific Crest Trail thru Grouse Meadow.
